Bedliner 101 – a
one minute lesson on bedliners
We have 20 years of Experience in this business. Here
is the scoop on bedliners:
Stay away from any and all products that do not use an
activator, Adhesion will be poor!
Rhino and Line-X are polyureas. Polyureas were created
for the roofing industry many years ago. This is a commodity product that
MUST go on thick to adhere. The UV protection for these products is
typically very bad, black turns gray. The advantage is that the $20,000
equipment needed to spray this product, allows it to dry in seconds, not
hours as it takes a chemical cure like ours.
We actually have 3 types of BEDLINERS, 3 different
chemical formulations.
You do not need to get hung up on this, we will ship
what is best for your application unless you specify a particular product.
- Epoxy – Urethane Blend – This is our standard workhorse. If
ordering a large black kit or a dark color kit THIS IS WHAT WE SHIP.
Semi gloss when sprayed. The part B is thick like molasses, this product
is virtually goof proof and will not run EXCELLENT ADHESION and good UV.
Cannot be made in white or light colors, they will discolor. Textures by
itself with or without rubber. The fine rubber is sent as the STD
additive unless you specify the large heavy crumb. The large heavy crumb
will affect your texture and the appearance is very rough. It would
actually hurt your feet if you walk on it without shoes. Great for
Industrial, Farm or Commercial application this is our best UV product. .
- Polyurethane - This is our best UV product. The White,
Gray and all light colors come standard in this product. Not a high gloss
product. Which makes it great on boat decks, fewer glares. Also the
product that you want for those CAMO jobs. If doing the whole exterior of
a vehicle, this is what product that you will want to use. Same thing
holds for the rubber as mentioned above.
- Epoxy – This formula goes further than the blend.
Least popular formula, highest gloss. It has the best adhesion and
chemical protection. Great for industrial applications. Does not texture
as well without the rubber additive. If you are not careful, it will run
on vertical surfaces. UV is Okay, but not as good as the others.
